ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — A parolee was taken into custody Saturday, March 23, after allegedly striking a relative with a baseball bat during a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 100 block of South Beverly Avenue.
Arlington Heights police responded to the home just after 1:00 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic battery involving a weapon. According to authorities, the suspect, a male parolee whose identity has not yet been released, attacked a female relative inside the home. The victim reportedly suffered injuries to the arm and head area.
First responders from the Arlington Heights Fire Department provided medical care at the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police secured the scene and recovered the weapon used in the assault. The suspect was arrested at the home without further incident.
The incident remains under investigation. Charges are pending as detectives coordinate with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently on parole, which may affect the legal proceedings.
Residents in the area were temporarily advised to avoid the block as officers conducted their response and investigation.
