Calling All Runners!

Arlington Heights, IL — Gerry’s Café, Brewing Opportunities, a local non-profit with a mission to employ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is stepping into the spotlight with a new initiative tied to one of the biggest athletic events of the year. The organization has announced the launch of its 2025 Chicago Marathon fundraising team and is inviting registered runners to join the effort in support of its cause. Gerry’s Café is working toward opening a café in Arlington Heights where individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be employed to serve craft food and beverages. The café aims to provide not only jobs, but also a space for dignity, inclusion, and community connection. Runners interested in supporting the café’s mission through the 2025 Chicago Marathon are encouraged to reach out via email at Warren@gerryscafe.org for more information. Community members are also urged to help spread the word — especially if they know marathon participants who may be looking for a meaningful cause to support.
