Arlington Heights – James Bertucci, a current trustee for Arlington Heights, is running for re-election in 2025, aiming to continue serving the village that has been a significant part of his life for over 30 years. Having held his position since 2021, Bertucci is the sole incumbent candidate and brings with him a wealth of experience that he believes will benefit Arlington Heights moving forward.
Bertucci’s deep commitment to the community is reflected in his involvement with numerous local organizations. He has served as past president of the Arlington Heights Rotary Club, Crime Stoppers, and the Library Board of Trustees, as well as holding roles with the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce, Metropolis Performing Arts, and the Historical Society. His long-standing dedication has earned him multiple awards, including the Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Business Volunteer of the Year and 2019 Community Leader of the Year, along with the prestigious Heart of Gold Award.
However, my attempts to learn more about Bertucci’s current campaign were limited, particularly after he blocked me from his Facebook page. From what I was able to gather, his campaign focuses heavily on his experience, community involvement, and endorsements, but there is little information to indicate specific plans or initiatives for the future. When I spoke with him before being blocked, we discussed the new village logo, a $35,000 plus project that raised questions. Bertucci expressed little enthusiasm for the design, admitting that he didn’t see much positive impact from it but voted yes because he believed it was going to pass. He was also questioned about a possible connection between the logo bid and former trustee Bert Rosenberg’s ties to the owner, Rob Rosenberg, whose company secured the bid. However, Bertucci denied any knowledge of such a connection.
Additionally, despite being copied on an email concerning a significant issue with the Arlington Heights Police Department (AHPD), Bertucci did not respond or take any action. He also has not responded to an open letter I sent to all candidates seeking clarity on various issues.
While Bertucci’s past service in Arlington Heights and leadership roles in community organizations are notable, there remains a lack of transparency regarding his vision for the future. His campaign, as far as I could find, emphasizes endorsements and community involvement, but without offering much in terms of a clear platform or specific policy proposals. As a trustee, Bertucci’s voting record and responses to key issues seem to suggest a more passive role, raising questions about his willingness to advocate for the village’s needs.
As Bertucci seeks another term, the focus of his re-election bid seems to be on his past service and established relationships, but whether that will be enough to secure another term will depend on how he addresses ongoing concerns and demonstrates leadership in the months leading up to the 2025 election.
