An abandoned laser tag facility in Arlington Heights will soon be repurposed into a virtual golf experience venue. The new venue, called Golf VX, will feature a golf simulator, a restaurant and a bar. It is scheduled to open early next year at 622-644 E. Rand Road in the Southpoint Shopping Center.
The facility will have 12 bays for year-round golf practice with simulator technology, including an auto tee-ball retrieval feature and two 3D motion cameras measuring ball flight data for a realistic outdoor experience.
Golf VX, the Northbrook-based U.S. division of Korean indoor golf simulator company Kakao VX, is opening its first flagship venue in Arlington Heights. The venue will feature golf bays surrounding a Makr Shakr, a robotic bartender that can craft cocktails using 158 bottles of spirits and juices. Employees will input drink orders on a computer screen before serving the finished product to customers.
The village board has given permission for a new amusement facility and restaurant to open. The venue will offer food and liquor services and plans to provide golf tournaments, leagues, camps, and lessons taught by a certified PGA teaching professional. The facility will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The operators still need to obtain a liquor license from the board.
